Not too long ago, Sega unveiled some newgameplay footagefor its forthcoming PlayStation 4 remaster ofYakuza3, exciting those who wish to revisit the PS3 classic from 2009 with updated visuals, audio, and more. Now, it looks as if fans of the long-running action-adventure franchise have even more to look forward to, as the publisher and developer’s latest fiscal report suggests that the sixth numbered installment in the series could eventually receive a release on PC.
As seen in the image below, Sega’s first quarter appendix for its previous fiscal year indicates thatYakuza 6: The Song of Lifeis headed to the PC, but this could potentially be a misprint due to the fact that the listing indicates an April 2018 release date for both the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game. For those unaware, that date saw the sequel launch on PS4 outside of Japan. Nevertheless, withYakuza 0having just released on PC, and withKiwamiexpected to come out on the platform later this year, there’s a possibility that other games in the series will go on to get their own versions for the PC as well.
WhileYakuza 6coming to PC would be exciting for many, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to anyone at this point, as Sega has been steadily upping its campaign to embrace the platform by making its software more accessible on the PC. For instance, the publisher and developer recently revealed its decision to put out the forthcomingShenmue 1and2remasters for PC gamers.
Beyond the potentialYakuza 6PC port, the series as a whole has received a lot more attention over the last few years, asYakuza 0on PS4 was received more widely in the West than the franchise had in the past. With this being the case, it’s safe to presume that Sega will continue focusing onYakuzaas one of its major properties in an effort to continue growing its success in the future.
