TheTony Hawkseries has to be one of the greatest sports game franchises, and, after a five-year wait, the birdman is back inTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, arriving on Xbox Game Pass. I love theTony Hawktitles, even though I’m not very good at them. I was always better at motorcycle games, like Ubisoft’sTrialsseries, whichI’ve spent over 750 hours in.
TheTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4remaster looks incredible, and even with a stacked Xbox Game Pass year that brought us titles likeClair Obscur: Expedition 33,DOOM: The Dark Ages, andThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, this game has to beone of the most exciting releases of 2025.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4is coming toXbox Game Pass on July 11, and it’s an experience you need to check out, even if you’re brand new to the series.

Hopefully, gettingTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4achievements will be easier this time around, as the Tony Hawk titles are notorious for being some of the hardest sports games to 100% complete.
For Xbox achievement hunters, it’s important to note thatthe achievement list will likely be shared between Xbox Console and PC. This isn’t always the case, as Game Pass titles likeHellblade: Senua’s Sacrificeor eventhe recently releasedCall of Duty: WW2have separate achievement lists for Xbox Console and PC, creating a great excuse for another playthrough. EvenTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2has an Xbox PC version with its own achievement list, but that likely won’t be the case this time for3 + 4.

A Long-Awaited Return
The lastTony Hawkgame was released five years ago, which is wild to think about.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, developed by Vicarious Visions, was a massive commercial and critical success, as it should be.1 + 2was an incredibly faithful remaster, but what made the title great was the movement, as it felt so slick and smooth, adding just the right amount of mechanics from futureTony Hawkgames.It’s no surprise that3 + 4uses the exact same movement, as it’s essentially perfect.
Despite the success,THPS 3 + 4failed to see the light of day for five years, and it’s because the developer, Vicarious Visions, merged with Blizzard to become Blizzard Albany, a studio only working on Blizzard games.THPS 3 + 4was planned by Activision according to Tony Hawk himself during a 2022andyTHPSTwitch stream, but with Vicarious Visions no longer available for more remaster projects,the game sat in limbo for a long time. Thankfully, Iron Galaxy took up the mantle, andTony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4is finally releasing.

A Remaster That Goes Above And Beyond
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2was a phenomenal game, but3 + 4looks even better. One issue with1 + 2was the lack of new content. Everything from the old games, minus Spider-Man returned, and that’s great, but there were no new levels and only three secret skaters available, one of which was paid DLC.Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, on the other hand, brings a ton of awesome new content.
The movement and controls in theTony Hawk Pro Skaterremasters are so good that you’ll get accustomed to them in no time.
Every level from3and4returns, along with somebrand-new levels made for this remaster.Judging by the previews,THPS 3+4will feature many secret unlockable skaters, most of which haven’t been announced yet. The ones that have been announced include Michelangelo fromTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesand Officer Dick returning from1 + 2. Hopefully, there will be aSpongeBob SquarePantssecret skater, judging by the Switch 2 announcement trailer, but3 + 4could be set to outdo its predecessor when it comes to secret skaters regardless.
With all the added content, I’m more excited for this game than ever. Don’t worry if you’ve never played aTony Hawktitle, as the movement and controls in theTony Hawk Pro Skaterremasters are so good that you’ll get accustomed to them in no time. There is one glaring issue with themissing career mode inTHPS 4, but I think all the new additions more than make up for it. No matter what you’re into regarding video games,Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4is a must-play Xbox Game Pass title when it arrives on July 11.
