Wolverinejust got an all-new costume in Marvel Comics' newly created Ultimate Universe, aka Earth-6160. In this reality,Wolverine plays the role of the Winter Soldier, as he was kidnapped, experimented on, brainwashed, and forced to hunt down and kill those he once called his friends. But things are changing, including his appearance.
InUltimate Wolverine#8 by Chris Condon and Alessandro Cappuccio, Wolverine has rejoined the Opposition, mutant freedom fighters who stand against the Eurasian Republic and the villains who control it (ie, Colossus, Magik, and Omega Red). They are on their way to a mission, and while Wolverine doesn’t say much, his updated costume does all the talking for him.
Wolverine’s original Ultimate Universe costumewas almost entirely red with a face mask worn over Logan’s mouth (similar to Bucky Barnes' Winter Soldier). Now, however, Wolverine’s costume has undergone a change. The red on his chest has been replaced with a white/silver color, and his face mask is gone, showing Wolverine’s full beard from under his cowl.

Wolverine of Earth-6160 didn’t alter his costume for the sake of a change, but to signal a shift from the version of the character fans were introduced to inUltimate Wolverine#1. A cold-blooded killer, a man without control of his mind, who wouldmurder Mystique and Nightcrawler, or anyone else he was ordered to.
But after the events ofUltimate Wolverine#6, Logan has regained control of himself. No longer is he a mindless weapon wielded by an evil authoritarian world power. Wolverine is a heroic mutant freedom fighter once again.
While still haunted by his past, Wolverine isn’t going to let what was done to him keep him out of the fight for long. That being said, he couldn’t run into battle wearing his Winter Soldier costume. So, Wolverine made some quick cosmetic changes to his suit, and this preview gives fans just a brief look at Wolverine’s new permanent outfit.
Will Wolverine Ever Get His Iconic Yellow Suit in the Ultimate Universe?
Sure, Ultimate Wolverine’s new costume change is cool, but it does raise one important question: will Wolverine get his iconic yellow suit in the new Ultimate Universe? After all, even the original Ultimate Universe of Earth-1610 had a version of Logan’s iconic yellow suit. Will the same hold tue for this new incarnation?
As of right now, that much is uncertain. However, the fact that Wolverine is in a new suit, and that the new suit is indicative of his return to life as a mutant hero, is something every Wolverine fan should be excited about.
