August 5 has been a date that many wrestling fans have been waiting for, as publisher 2K games and even WWE superstars have been teasing about what’s to come inWWE 2K20. Notably, aleakedWWE 2K20trailerrevealed much of this information ahead of time, but now, most of that has been confirmed.
As seen below,WWE 2K20will not feature one cover star like past entries but two, namely Roman Reigns and “The Man” Becky Lynch. Reigns isn’t a surprising inclusion, especially considering how he has headlined numerous WWE PPV events, including 4 Wrestlemanias (31-34) in a row. Lynch shouldn’t come as a surprise either, as rumors have been circulating online for quite some time.

If nothing else, including two cover stars sets the tone for a serious break in tradition. SinceWWE ‘12, there has only been one cover star, and this pair sets the tone for the intergender wrestling. Publisher 2K Games confirms that players will be able to play as both male and female Superstars in theWWE 2K20’s MyCAREER mode, as well as in Mixed Tag matches. Considering the increased prominence of intergender wrestling, this should make a ton of wrestling fans happy.

And luckily, those happy fans will not have to wait long, as the release date ofWWE 2K20was confirmed to be October 22 for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. The platforms should come as no surprise, as it has been the standard, and there’s a chance that the Switch couldn’t run the game. This is an important contrast to howWWE 2K18underperformed on the Switch.
It’ll be interesting to see what else is revealed prior to the launch ofWWE 2K20, but it seems safe to say that it’s off to a solid start.
