Summary
The upcomingWrestleQuestvideo game gives players the chance to freely explore a pro wrestling-themed RPG world full of quests to complete and iconic wrestling legends from the 80s and 90s to recruit. Some of thewrestling legends inWrestleQuestcan even be added to the player’s party as managers who assist the player in battle.
Some fans may be wondering if any actual pro wrestling managers from the era are featured inWrestleQuest, like Bobby Heenan, J.J. Dillon, orJim Cornette. Unfortunately, those classic wrestling managers didn’t make the cut, but in an interview with Game Rant, Mega Cat’s James Deighan revealed that Jim Cornette was “always” on the developer’s wish list. “I wish we could have had Jim Cornette. I’m a huge Cornette fan. I’m in the Cornette Facebook groups. Even when I fell out of following wrestling closely, I was still following the Cornette stuff,” Deighan explained.

It seems that the lack of these famous wrestling managers inWrestleQuestboils down to the game already having so much content. “We’ve blown the game out of scope,” Deighan said. “If you include the side content it’s 80 hours. So at some point we had to draw the line, at least unofficially, and start talking about DLC and sequels, things like that.” When asked if there’s a chance Jim Cornette will come toWrestleQuestas DLC or appear in a sequel, Deighan said, “Nothing’s signed yet, but it’s on the wish list.”
It’s safe to say that ifWrestleQuestwere to secure Jim Cornette as DLC, it would generate significant buzz for the game. Even though Cornette is not currently signed to any wrestling promotions and has no TV presence, he’s still one of the industry’s most-talked about personalities thanks to his hugely popular podcasts. Cornette’s podcasts are arguably the most popular wrestling podcasts in existence, with legions of fans regularly tuning in to hear his old-school wrestling stories as well as hiscritiques of modern-day WWE and AEW. Cornette’s brutal rundowns of the wrestling business and certain wrestlers in it have caused significant controversy, so it would definitely be interesting to see how fans would react if he were ever added toWrestleQuest.
While Jim Cornette is not currently inWrestleQuest, the game still has plenty of wrestling legends for fans to interact with. Wrestling fans looking forward to this ambitious mish-mash of pro wrestling and JRPG mechanics should know thatWrestleQuestwas recently hit with a last minute delay, but they will still be able to check it out later this month.
