However, an odd new object has appeared on the PTR for Patch 10.1.7. The Arcane Forge is a new device located in the Artisan’s Market of Valdrakken, where many of the Profession trainers forDragonflightare located. The object itself can’t be interacted with yet, and seemingly has no purpose, but it is important enough to have an icon and tooltip on the map. This indicates the object will likely play some significance in the story, mechanics, or progression offutureDragonflightpatches.
Strangely enough, the Arcane Forge features glyphs and colorization reminiscent of the Draenei race. The model used by this item has not been seen before inWoWeither, so it would be a strange choice to use for a placeholder. Patch 10.1.7 is featuring a quest whereWorld of Warcraftplayers can unlock Eredar customizationsin a quest revolving around the Draenei. The Arcane Forge could be involved with this quest, but it would be strange for it to have a map icon if that was the case.
Some players have speculated the Arcane Forge could be used in a new crafting systemWorld of Warcraftis working on for Patch 10.1.7 or 10.2, especially due to its location. Others have wondered if it will be used in a return of the reforging system, which allowed players to change aroundsecondary stats on someWorld of Warcraftitems. Players can only guess its purpose until Blizzard reveals the truth of the Arcane Forge.
Luckily,World of Warcraftplayers probably won’t have to wait long. Patch 10.1.7 is right around the corner, meaning a reveal of Patch 10.2 will probably come in the next few weeks, or no later than early September. WithBlizzCon in early November, players can expect even more information–and possibly even an expansion reveal–over the next few months.
