The new era ofXbox, focused on Windows, seems to be off to a compelling start, as the new Aggregated Gaming Library feature has been revealed. Last week, Sarah Bond, president of Xbox, announced thatXbox’s new generation of hardwarewould be Windows-focused, with a mission to“play the games you want, with the people you want, and wherever you want.”Now, we are getting a glimpse of what the future might entail, as the new library feature is focused on condensing the array of digital libraries players may have on PC or handheld devices.
In a blog post toXbox Wire, the new Aggregated Gaming Library function has been detailed, and starting this week, Xbox fans can preview the new function in the Xbox PC app for Windows and handheld devices that run on Windows, and it will also be available for the upcoming Xbox handhelds, the Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox ROG Ally X, this winter. The Aggregated Gaming Library will allow users to launch games from the Xbox Store, Xbox Game Pass, Battle Net, and other digital platforms from the new handheld devices or PC,all from a single library.

What Is The Xbox Aggregated Gaming Library?
One Library For All Your Games
The Xbox Aggregated Gaming Library, essentially, isa consolidation of several digital gaming libraries, like Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Xbox Game Pass, and more, all to a single library, letting users access whatever games they wish without having to launch several different apps. Xbox will also be adding additional platforms to the Aggregated Gaming Library in the future.
Using this service wouldallow for convenience and unified accessto most digital games that have been purchased on a Windows-supported application. For example, a player might forget which service they have the latestCall of Dutydownloaded on, and by using the Aggregated Gaming Library service, the game can be launched and played without having to dig around for apps or game files. Xbox’s previous statement about being Windows-focused left a lot of questions to be answered, and while there are still a lot of questions, this new library may be a peek at what’s to come for thenext Xbox console generation.

Xbox’s Next Gen Is Starting Strong
Access To Most Games On One Application Is Convenient
Despite someconcerns about Windowsbeing the backbone of Xbox’s future, especially when it comes to software updates and compatibility with Windows, the new Aggregated Gaming Library is a great start to the future of Xbox. I personally forget which games I have access to on which digital library often, so having to search can be a pain sometimes. Not to mention, the consistent updates of stores can sometimes lead to several update downloads before being able to play games.
We don’t have a ton of details yet, like if players still have to have every app downloaded onto their PC or handheld device to access their games from the Aggregated Gaming Library, but with the service being previewed this week, we might have answers soon.Xboxis making a bold shift for its future, but this new service sounds like it is on starting off strong.
