But leveling up a gun isn’t as simple as taking it to an anvil and paying a blacksmith.Witchfirehas its own system for leveling up guns. Thedev team is proud of the combat systemand would like players to rethink how leveling up guns in FPS roguelike games should work.
How To Improve Weapons
Players will need tolevel upbefore researching and unlocking new weapons but getting started with the base gun, the Hunger, can get started right away. Inspect the weapon and take a peek at what the requirements are to unlock the next perk. For most weapons, this will be a simple kill total with the gun in question.

After hitting the requirements, visit the Gunroom, inspect the weapon, and then choose ‘Unveil Mysterium’ to unlock a perk, called Mysteria, and get the next set of requirements for the next benefit. Players should be consistently trying to accomplish specific tasks with each run and this is definitely true for weaponry; have goals for each expedition when it comes to gun upgrades.
Guns are only one way to get more powerful, of course. Gettingthe best bonuses from the Ascension Shrineis a big deal as are researched spells and potion enhancements. But with so much of the game hinging on gunplay, finding the best weapon for the desired build and leveling the preferred gun up is vital.

Eventually, players will get a wide variety of guns and get to level up each one. It’s up to each individual whether they want to stick with a few favorites or level everything up to the maximum.
