While there have been no details about Luffy’s mom inOne Piece,series creator Eiichiro Oda gave an interview that put a lot of hints about her character forward. Oda said that if she does appear in the story, implying that she may or may not appear,she’ll be much different from the woman a lot of people may think could be Luffy’s mom.
Oda said that Luffy’s mom won’t be a beautiful woman like Nico Robin or Nami. He said that she’ll most likely be on the rougher side. “She’ll be a very tough-looking woman. And strict. There’s no way that she’s a beautiful mother. She’s got this typical middle-aged woman’s permed hair,” said Oda.
Oda also said that he hasn’t drawn too many blood-related relatives in flashback scenes. It makes sense, as everytime any of Luffy’s family members appeared on screen they were live, except for a few key moments. It will be interesting to see if Luffy’s mom has already sneakily appeared on screen as well, and with this description of her, maybe she already has.
