Many would be forgiven for initially doubting theUnchartedmovie, as video game adaptations into movies often fall short of fan expectations. Couple that with the, at first, seemingly odd casting ofMark Wahlberg as Sully and Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, and many were unconvinced. This speaks volumes to the doubts as Tom Holland has gotten a lot of attention for his portrayal of Spider-Man in recent years.
However,Unchartedperformed admirably at the box office and has now found its way onto streaming service Netflix, where its triumphant run continues. It should be noted that, reportedly,Unchartedfeatured a $400 million theatrical run, with Sony Pictures having nothing but praise for the action-packed movie.

Uncharted, in the days since being added to Netflix, has climbed to the top of the streaming service’s charts. There’s plenty on there to watch, includingThe Gray Manwhich features Ryan Gosling and Chris Evansembodying a conflict between a private military warlord, of sorts, and an expertly trained Assassin and secret soldier. So, the fact that theUnchartedmovie has emerged on top is nothing short of impressive.
Uncharted’s official synopsisdescribes the movie as “Street-smart Nathan Drake being recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan to recover a fortune amassed by Ferdinand Magellan, and lost 500 years ago by the House of Moncada.” The general setup of the movie leaves plenty of wide open space for Nate and Sully’s next adventure, meaning a sequel after all of this success seems likely. However, it should be noted nothing has been confirmed by Sony Pictures as of this writing.
Unchartedis streaming now on Netflix.
