Shadow of the Erdtreeintroduced so many incredible and powerful weapons, spells, consumables, and more toElden Ring, but there’s one item in particular I think every single spellcaster build needs to incorporate. The Lulling Branch is aShadow of the Erdtreeconsumable that will change the way you approach FP management, and tracking down the crafting recipe as soon as possible is well worth it. If you are struggling to maintain FP and are sick of burning through Starlight Shards like they’re going out of style, Lulling Branches are the perfect solution.
The Lulling Branches inShadow of the Erdtreeare easily some of the most reliable sources of FP regen that you’re going to find in the game, and they can even stack with the Starlight Shards from the base game, giving you massive potential for castingspells or incantationswithout worrying about running out of FP. These are often overlooked because they also inflict Sleep buildup on the user, but this can actually be taken advantage of as well, thanks to a unique talisman found that’s also found in theShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion.

How Lulling Branches Work In Shadow Of The Erdtree
Restore FP Over Time & Inflict Sleep Buildup
TheLulling BranchinShadow of the Erdtreeis a unique item in that it’s the only consumable that causes Sleep buildup, one ofElden Ring’smany status effects. Prior to the expansion, players were more or less limited toSoporific Greaseand/orSleep Pots.Sleep-inducing items are few and far between in the base game, but were largelyexpanded on inSOTE,which even introduced a new sleep variant status effect, Eternal Sleep. The Lulling Branch is one of these many Sleep-based items, but its Sleep effect isn’t necessarily why you should be interested.

If you’re playing a Sorcerer or Battle Mage (or any Spellcaster build for that matter), you should absolutely be taking advantage of Lulling Branches for the FP Restoration effect. Similar toStarlight Shards,Lulling Branches regenerate FP over time, but the total amount of FP restored is higher, and more importantly, they stack with the Starlight Shard regen. With a healthy supply of these consumables, you won’t necessarily need to rely on your FP flasks, and you can allocate charges to health and even allocate points from Mind into other stats.
Best Way To Use The Lulling Branch Consumable
Take Advantage Of Sleep Buildup With St. Trina’s Smile
The obvious caveat here is that Sleep buildup will need to be managed or capitalized on in some way when using Lulling Branches as a source of FP. To avoid falling asleep from the Lulling Branch’s effect, you’ll need to have high Focus: at least 311, to be exact. There aremany ways to get to 311 Focus without investing too many points into Mind, such as theMottled NecklaceandClarifying Horn Charmtalismans. High Focus is essential if you don’t want to fall asleep mid-battle from using a Lulling Branch.
However, my recommended approach is to embrace the Sleep effect and keep your Focus low, equippingSt. Trina’s Smileto take advantage of the 20% damage bonus. The Lulling Branch will be enough to induce Sleep if you have a Focus of 310 or lower, meaning you canreliably give yourself an easy damage bonus while also regenerating FP.The St. Trina’s Smile talisman is an essential addition to your build when using Lulling Branches, but you’ll need to defeat the NPCThiollierin order to pick it up.

How To Get Lulling Branches In Elden Ring: SOTE
Find St. Trina’s Cookbook 3 For The Lulling Branch Recipe
If you’re looking for Lulling Branches, you’ll need to travel to the Garden of Deep Purple and defeatthe Putrescent Knight. There will be a small cave nearby in which you may findSt. Trina Disciple’s Cookbook [3], which contains the recipe for Lulling Branches. Crafting a Lulling Branch requires oneDewgem, oneNectarblood Burgeon, and aBeast Horn, all of which arerelatively rare materials that can be farmed in specific locations.
Dewgem can be farmed somewhat reliably at the Ancient Ruins of Rauh, near the Fire Golem there. Nectarblood Burgeons can be farmed in the Stone Coffin Fissure by killing animals surrounding the Fissure Depths Site of Grace. Finally, Beast Horn can be farmed reliably at the Viaduct Minor Tower Site of Grace in the Specimen Storehouse. While it may be a bit of work to gather these materials and craft a healthy stockpile of Lulling Branches, the end result is well worth it for any Spellcaster build inElden Ring.
