Cyberpunk 2077has not stopped growing and improving since its somewhat disastrous launch back in 2020. Fans have been requesting a number of features, and, in most cases, CD Projekt Red has delivered. The police were improved, driving was overhauled, skills and progression were completely changed, and side quests got a very healthy facelift in thePhantom LibertyDLC.
Of course, there will always be some fans who aren’t happy and some features that get left out. It is always up to the developer to decide when to stop, and, in most cases, it is worth saying no. After all, the developer knows best. However, in this instance,Cyberpunk 2077’smost-requested featuresdo deserve to be implemented.Without them,Cyberpunk 2077’ssequel could sufferjust like its predecessor did.

Fan Demand Is High For NG+ & Third-Person
They’re Must-Have Features In Fans' Eyes
Fans have been clamoring for CD Projekt Red to add a New Game Plus mode and a third-person perspectivetoCyberpunk 2077pretty much since the game launched. Both, in theory, sound like reasonable additions, especially as the majority of RPGs, including ones by CD Projekt Red, feature either or both. In fact,The Witcher 3: The Wild Huntfeatures both a fixed third-person perspective and an unlockable New Game Plus mode.
It isn’t that CD Projekt Red is out to spite its fans. Rather, it fully believes that there is no possible way of implementing either in the current version ofCyberpunk 2077.

With everynewCyberpunk 2077update, fans often expect CD Projekt Red to finally announce either feature coming to the game, but they never do. Unfortunately, there’s a good reason for that. It isn’t that CD Projekt Red is out to spite its fans. Rather, it fully believes that there is no possible way of implementing either in the current version ofCyberpunk 2077.
Why Cyberpunk 2077 Will Never Have NG+ Or Third-Person
There Are No Such Plans
In an interview withDualShockers,Cyberpunk 2077’slead quest designer, Pawel Sasko, explained that “it’s incredibly difficult to figure out a way where New Game Plus could be done in a way that doesn’t completely break the way the game is constructed.” He believes thatadding NG+ toCyberpunk 2077would completely mess it up, as the game was never designed to accommodate it likeStarfieldwas. Additionally, in response to a fan asking whether a third-person mode would be added toCyberpunk, the game’s officialXaccount responded, “Sorry, we have no such plans.”
It is pretty definitive, then, that CD Projekt Red either has no interest in adding either feature or simply can’t figure out how to. Of course, that is with the current version ofCyberpunk 2077, butmany are hoping it will be a different story with its sequel. After all, it could suffer greatly without them.

Cyberpunk’s Sequel Won’t Survive Without These Additions
They’re In Every Other RPG
Cyberpunk 2077’ssequel needs a NG+ mode and a third-person perspective, not just to cater to the fans demanding them, but also to keep up with the competition. Practically every RPG features both, meaningCyberpunk 2077, at least in this regard, is somewhat outdated. That’s just a little antithetical to its promise of being the next-gen of open-world gaming, as its marketing so boldly claimed.
For the sequel to succeed, not only does it need to properlyimplement Cyberpunk 2077’s wasted ideas, but it also needs to add the bare necessities of an open-world RPG. Hopefully, we’ll finally see both of these features implemented inCyberpunk 2077’ssequel, so, at the very least, fans can finally start focusing on the important issues like adding pettable dogs to the game.
