The Mandalorianmight not be about the iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett, but the latest casting news reveals that the fan-favorite character will make an appearance in theDisney Plus show. Temeura Morrison, who played Jango Fett and the Clone Troopers in theStar Warsprequel trilogy has been added toThe MandalorianSeason 2 cast.
While Morrison never played Boba Fett in the original trilogy, it only makes sense to have him play the character now. InEpisode 2: Attack of the Clones, George Lucas explained that the character of Jango Fett (played by Morrison) was the prototype for the clones used as Clone Troopers in the film.

But while those Clone Troopers were subjected to enhancements and advanced aging, Fett requested that one clone be created devoid of that tampering. Jango envisioned this clone as his son, Boba, who was only ever seen as a young boy in the prequel films. But presumably, he would grow up to look just like Jango, hence Temeura Morrison’s casting.
Of course, last anyone saw Boba Fett in a Star Wars film he was being eaten by a Sarlacc in a pit on Tatooine. The Expanded Universe eventually explained that Boba Fett did escape from the Sarlacc pit, but whenDisney bought the rights toStar Wars, the company solidified the canon to only include the films and TV shows. So, Boba Fett once again became a dead character.
Now it seems that Boba Fett will be resurrected in some form, either through a flashback or in the flesh. As one of the most iconic characters inStar Warsand a fan-favorite, Boba Fett always felt criminally underutilized, to the point that many artists have tried to include him in new media.
Star Wars 1313was said to be aBoba Fett gamebefore it was cancelled, and a Boba Fett movie was in the works before it fell into turmoil. Finally, Boba Fett will make another appearance inThe MandalorianSeason 2.
