The Lincoln Lawyerseason 4 might not be able to use Harry Bosch in its story, but it can still honor its connection to the character in one way.The Lincoln Lawyerseason 4will bebased on the fifth Mickey Haller book in Michael Connelly’s series, titledThe Law of Innocence. Much like howThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 3 ended, the upcoming episodes will focus on the series' protagonist getting framed for the murder of Sam Scales. This will require everyone on his legal team to be prepared to defend him against accusations for a crime he didn’t commit.
While thecast ofThe Lincoln Lawyerwill feature plenty of returning characters, one face that won’t be showing up is Detective Harry Bosch.Mickey has plenty of crossovers with the investigator in the book series, with the pair harboring an interesting connection that is revealed as the series progresses. The detective had his own shows on Prime Video, with Titus Welliver portraying the character in two TV series across 10 seasons. However, despite the pair existing in separate television universes, there’s still one way the Netflix show can honor the pair’s connection in their book series.

The Lincoln Lawyer Should Have Titus Welliver Cameo As A Different Character
It Can Offer A Nod To Bosch Without Having Him Show Up
Bosch makes an appearance inThe Law of Innocence, helping Mickey’s team determine who framed him for murder. His investigative skills are important to determining who the true culprit is, alongside why they wanted to pin the murder on him. Since he works closely with the rest of the team, his role in the story is an important element as to how Mickey’s trial goes. But, with the two characters in separate universes on TV,The Lincoln Lawyerseason 4’s storywill need to be changed. Bosch’s appearance is impossible, meaning his role will be cut in the adaptation.
However, season 4 can still offer a nod to Bosch by having Welliver cameo as a different characterinThe Lincoln Lawyerseason 4. While it’s unlikely for Bosch to appear in the show, the actor who plays him in Prime Video’s universe could see cameo as a different character in the Netflix series. This could offer a meta acknowledgment of the characters' connections, as well as the detective’s major role inThe Law of Innocence. By having the actor come in as a completely different character, the show can recognize their book connection without being direct about it.

Titus Welliver Appearing On The Lincoln Lawyer Would Further Curb Hope For A Future Bosch Inclusion
The Only Caveat To A Cameo Appearance
Although Welliver’s potential cameo appearance would offer a strong nod toThe Lincoln Lawyer’s Bosch connection, it would also nullify any chances of an actual crossover between both characters happening. Unfortunately,it makes sense as to why the characters are never going to have a crossover. Not only do their shows air on different streaming platforms, but Welliver is set to reprise his role in theupcomingBallardspinoff series. His universe has its own established canon, and combining the two this late might not be ideal.
While Bosch will still be part of his own universe inBallard, seeing the two stars of both shows together would be a fun reference to their book series origins.
Even though a cameo from Welliver would end any hope of a crossover between the Netflix and Prime Video shows, it would still be a good way to acknowledge the pair’s book connections. Even if theBoschstar only showed up for a brief period of time,it could be a fun appearance for readers familiar with Connelly’s shared universe. Although the character would be completely different, the actor showing up would still make for a memorable tribute to Mickey’s connection to Bosch in the source material.
Although, in an ideal world,The Lincoln Lawyerwould find some way of crossing over withBosch, a cameo from Welliver would be the perfect middle ground. WhileBosch will still be part of his own universe inBallard, seeing the two stars of both shows together would be a fun reference to their book series origins. Even though a true crossover probably won’t happen, a cameo appearance from Welliver in the Netflix show would still benefit the series with a reference to what could have been.
