Hironobu Sakaguchi makes things that I like to play, regardless of where he is working. That’s why I’m excited about Wii RPGThe Last Story. I’m also glad to see the thegame’s official websitehas been updated from teaser territory to one that actually gives us some idea of what the game will be like.
We knew about main character Elza and heroine Kanan, but three more have been revealed: Quark, Yuris, and Seiren, all of which are show and detailed (in Japanese)here. Seiren’s got it goin’ on.
The story goes like this, saysAndria Sang: A group of mercenaries have left the mainland and have come to the harbor of Ruli Island to make some money. Taking on odd jobs like killing monsters has this group looking pretty lame compared to the knights, who serve the empire. Mercenary and main character Elza dreams of one day becoming a knight.
Life would go on as normal if it wasn’t for a cave that gave Elza a special power called “Gathering.” This power lets him draw the attention of enemies, creating situations that would be in his party’s favor.
The battle system is covered a bit in the update. Using the Wii Remote, you’ll be able to draw a line between an ally and an enemy called a “Pointer.” You’ll be able to set targets and see who is targeting you in this way.
