Everything We Know About The Oblivion Remaster

A Remaster Of A Revolutionary Game

The remaster ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionis allegedly in development at Virtuos Gamesand will reportedly run on Unreal Engine 5. The new leaked images are from Virtuos' website. One image shows the titleThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, potentially underselling its status as a remake in a new engine. There are purportedly some majorchanges to the game’s combat and stealth mechanics, as well, with some inspiration from theDark Soulsgames.

The supposed leaked images have now been removed from Virtuos' website, although some can still be viewed in the Reddit post that shared the news. Notably, there is no Nintendo branding in the leaked source code index for the supposed reveal trailer, so it does not appear the remaster will come over to Switch, at least not at launch.

Our Take: This Leak Looks Legit

It Might Be A Nice Surprise For April

Since the leaked images have been traced back to Virtuos' own website and were quickly taken down,it does seem like these new leaks are legit, further supported by the reputation of journalist Jeff Grubb. The main question at the moment is what day theOblivionremaster will be released the week of April 21, or if the date is pushed a bit further until the last week of April instead. Of course, nothing has been confirmed, so there is still a chance the remake won’t actually arrive this month.

The modding community forThe Elder Scrollshas been nearing completion on afan-madeOblivionremake,but it looks like the official remaster will be released much sooner than many expected. We should know if these leaks are fully true within the next two weeks, so April may be an exciting time forThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivionfans.
