Supermassive Games found a great deal of success withUntil Dawn, whose legacy is carried on inThe Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of horror games with different stories and characters that all featureUntil Dawn-style gameplay. The second game in the series,The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, has received its most-revealing trailer to date, letting horror game fans know exactly what they can expect when it releases later this summer.

As teased bypreviousDark Pictures: Little Hopetrailers, the game will focus on a small town called Little Hope. However, the twist is that the game will have both a modern day narrative as well as a story set in the past, where the town was grappling with hysteria over supposed witchcraft. It’s clear that the atrocities that occurred in the past will play a direct role in what’s going on in the modern day setting, and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

As far as threats go, this trailer seems to indicate thatThe Dark Pictures: Little Hopeplayers will have to contend with a monster of some kind, as well as some hostile human characters. A scene is shown with a house catching on fire, and so escaping that situation will likely be in the cards as well.

For the most part,The Dark Pictures: Little Hopeis keeping the finer details under wraps. This makes sense, as part of the appeal ofSupermassive’s horror gamesis not just subjecting oneself to jump scares, but unraveling the mystery behind exactly what is going on.

IfThe Dark Pictures: Little Hopeis a success, one has to imagine that even moreThe Dark Pictures Anthologygames are in the cards.
