The Boyssurprisingly managed to keep a pair of main characters separated through four seasons. The popular and ever-relevant Prime Video show continues tracking Hughie and The Boys, who go head-to-head against Vought International and theirmany dangerously powerful supes, including Homelander and The Deep. Overall, the series has added a number of main and recurring characters, some appearing sporadically or departing over time, while others are constantly partaking in the action.
Whether becoming partners or adversaries, mostcharacters fromThe Boyshave crossed paths at least once. Hughie, the non-powered, ordinary Bryman Audio Visual employee and main protagonist, was compelled by Butcher to combat the supes when A-Train inadvertently murdered his girlfriend in season 1. Since then,Hughie has teamed up with The Boys and come into contact with nearly every major supe, regardless of their public persona and association with Vought. However, there is one character, similarly part ofThe Boysfrom the beginning, who has not interacted with Hughie yet.

Hughie & The Deep Don’t Have Any Scenes Together In The Boys Seasons 1-4
Both Have Been Main Characters Throughout
Despite both characters appearing inThe Boysfrom the beginning,Hughie and The Deep have remarkably never shared a scene together. That is particularly unusual, considering how heavily involved Hughie has been in destroying Vought and The Seven. Once he learnedmore about Compound Vand the world of dishonorable superheroes, Hughie and The Boys became primary targets of Homelander. The aggressive, and now politically charged, supe has been a menacing presence from early on. The Deep has also fought against The Boys, but has apparently somehow managed to dodge Hughie.
The closest Hughie and The Deep came to interacting was inThe Boysseason 2, episode 3, “Over the Hill with the Swords of a Thousand Men.” During a highly memorable sequence, Hughie was on board a boat that crashed through a whale, which The Deep had used to obstruct The Boys’ means of escaping. However, when questioned by Homelander, The Deep revealed that he never got a good look at them. Besides that encounter, The Deep instigated acontroversial sequence with Annie/Starlight, but it occurred in season 1, before she and Hughie became serious as a couple.
Hughie & The Deep Should Have A Scene Together In Season 5
This Would Be Their Last Chance
BecauseThe Boyswill conclude after season 5, Hughie and The Deep have one final chance to have a scene together. Many scenarios can take place where the characters find themselves in personal discord and/or ongoing challenges between The Boys and The Seven. One potential storyline could involve Starlight, who Hughie seemed to make amends with inThe Boysseason 4 finale, and who became heavily tormented by Homelander and his allies. The Deep has been pushing his loyalty towards Homelander and, should The Seven continue going after Starlight, Hughie may directly intervene.
The fighting between The Boys and The Seven has reached an all-time high
By the end ofThe Boysseason 4, Hughie was apprehended by Vought, now working alongside the U.S. government, while The Deep became increasingly more antagonistic, eliminating Vought personnel and seeking greater respect from others. How Hughie and The Deep can potentially share screen time, if it happens, remains to be seen. Still,The Boysshould give their characters that opportunity, especially because the fighting between The Boys and The Seven has reached an all-time high, and because they have gone all this time without interacting at all.
Looking ahead toThe Boysseason 5, whether Hughie and The Deep finally have a scene together has now become a major question. Anything could happen to bring them face-to-face, and with so much plot and high stakes, it will be interesting to see if and how that interaction could come about. Considering that Hughie and The Deep have been main characters from day one ofThe Boys, there really should be a scene between them before the series finale.
