The Bearseason 4’s endingsawCarmy and Sydney in yet another dramatic confrontationafter the former reveals his plan to leave The Bear and the restaurant industry behind. The Bear Season 5 Can Finally End The Trend Of Sydney & Carmy Rarely Being On The Same Page
The Bear Is At Its Best When They Get Along
Carmy and Sydney are constantly fighting and have scarcely been on the same page throughoutThe Bear, despite their mutual respect and friendship. The pair isn’t quite as bad as Carmy and Richie, but they’re constantly finding ways to be at odds with each other in the kitchen, generally over management ideas.
With Carmy leaving, itlooks like they’ll finally drop a lot of the back-and-forth frustration that’s defined his relationship with Sydney. He’ll likely spend most of season 5 helping her get the restaurant back on track, but his impending departure means leaving a more significant portion of the decision-making to her, as she’s eventually going to be in charge.

Many of the problems between this pair stemmed from Carmy not communicating effectively with Sydney, leaving her insecure and unsure about her place within the restaurant. The partnership agreement was particularly unclear, causing a largely unspoken rift in season 3.Carmy began listening to her more throughout season 4, but that’s only the beginning.
Now that Sydney is a partner and not Carmy, her place in the restaurant is secure. It’s challenging for her, asshe’s relatively new to the industry, despite her evident potential. She looks up to Carmy, and even mentioned in season 4 that his meal in New York was the best she’d ever had.
Finding one’s place in a collaborative partnership can be difficult enough as it is, but when it’s under one’s idol, self-esteem issues aren’t uncommon.
