Today sawthe official reveal of Doomfistas the next hero set to be included in Blizzard’s team-based shooterOverwatch, and while there were plenty fans of the title excited to learn about the character’s impending addition to the main game, many were disappointed to find out that he’s not being voiced by Terry Crews as had been previously speculated. Although this is the case, theBrooklyn Nine-Ninecast member and all-around class act took to Twitter to discuss the situation and thank those who had originally supported his campaign to play Doomfist.

As seen in the tweet below from Crews' official Twitter account, the actor showed that he has no enmity for the developers at Blizzard for not casting him as Doomfist, as he wrote that he “will always love"Overwatchand the game’s development team. Further proving he has no ill will for the company’s decision to go with another voice actor for the role, Crews went on to say “Doomfist is incredible” and he was “happy to have had all the fans' consideration” for the part.

For those unaware, speculation regarding theIdiocracyco-star taking on the role of Doomfist began whenTerry Crews visited Blizzard’s studioseveral months ago and took the photo found at the top of the article. The fervor following the actor’s visit to the publisher and developer’s offices reached such a fever pitch that practically everyone believed he was a lock to do the character’s voice work, as even Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke out to say Crews would be perfect for the part.

Although Crews' crusade to don Doomfist’s gauntlet has come to a close, it’s not all bad news for the actor, as he will at least get to fulfill the dream of portraying a video game character in an upcoming title. As it so happens, the team at Sumo Digital made sureCrackdown 3features him as a playable characterunder the name of Commander Jaxon. While the role in the forthcoming Xbox One game is surely appreciated by Crews, he and the rest ofOverwatch’s fans will likely wonder how Doomfist’s lines would sound with his booming voice for a long time to come.
