Taylor Sheridan remains one of the busiest people in the world of TV. Lionessascends Netflix’s top 10 chart following its debut on the service. Premiering in 2023, the Paramount+ series stars Zoe Saldaña as Joe, the leader of a CIA program that puts female agents deep behind enemy lines to disrupt terrorist activity. Also starring Nicole Kidman, Dave Annable, Laysla De Oliveira, and Morgan Freeman, season 1 debuted to mixed reviews from critics, butseason 2, which premiered last October, was received far more favorably.

This has led to an average Rotten Tomatoes score for the series of 73%. New data fromNetflixnow reveals thatLioness,specifically season 1, ranks as the sixth most popular English-language serieson the platform globally for the week of April 14 – 20. The Sheridan show racked up an impressive 3.4 million views in total, with 20 million hours viewed.

Will Season 3 Happen?

TheLionessseason 2 finale was released on June 01, 2025, butthe series hasn’t yet been renewed for season 3. There’s been no official word about the show’s future, but the season 2 finale has not been treated as a series finale, which is a promising sign. Paramount will be looking primarily at viewership on Paramount+ to determine whetherLionessseason 3happens, and its success on Netflix bodes well in this regard.
