In a preview forSuperman Unlimited #4by Dan Slott and Rafael Albuquerque, a couple of crooks in Gotham are breaking into a building when they’re interrupted by an imposing, bat-like figure. To their relief, it isn’t Batman, but rather, the monstrous Man-Bat. They shoot the poor creature, sending it plummeting into the streets below.
Far below the criminal activity, Jimmy Olsen is riding with Tee-Nah,The Daily Planet’snewest I.T. specialist. Their conversation is ruined by Man-Bat, who crashes onto the hood of their car, causingJimmy to call for Superman. But that may not out like how Jimmy hopes, as the cover showsSuperman transformed into an intimidating Man-Bat-like monster.

Superman Unlimitedis one of Clark Kent’s latest titles, debuting as part ofthe Summer of Superman. This series has seen Superman’s world change radically, fromThe Daily Planetgoing global, to the Earth being inundated with massive amounts of kryptonite. Not only that, but Superman himself has even gained a new superpower that bestows him with temporary kryptonite immunity.
Unfortunately, the cover is the only good look at this new ‘Superman-Bat’ in this preview. But by the looks of things, he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with. Superman’s already strong and quick. But what happens when he’s augmented by Man-Bat’s powers, such as supersonic screeching? Will anyone in Gotham be able to take him down?

It’s hard to imagine how a Superman-Bat can be defeated, especially since Clark is more resistant to kryptonite than he previously was. But Batman and his allies have found cures to Kirk Langstrom’s ailment before, so, hopefully, they’re able to apply such a cure to Clark. Otherwise,Supermanis going to have to get used to being this new ‘Superman-Bat’.
