Super Smash Bros.games have introduced a variety of features to stay fresh over the years, and the Spirits inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatehave proven to be consistent feature that has stuck with fans, with regular updates bringing new Spirits in the form of Spirit Boards and/or Spirit Events. These have allowed characters from series that otherwise would not be represented inSmashto finally make their way to the game in some form.
Earlier this week, fans noticed that they had to received news ofa new Spirit Event inUltimate.Many fans began to speculate that this would tie into some sort of Nintendo Direct event, since the delay of Spirit Events has previously meant that the game was waiting for a Direct presentation to announce a commemorative Spirit Event, much like the one for theSuper Mario Bros.35th anniversary. However, a brand newMonster Hunter RiseEvent has just been announced for the game.

Over on Twitter, the official Japanese account forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateannounced the coming of aMonster Hunter RiseSpirit Event, bringing along 3 new Spirits for players to obtain. Despite being announced a bit off the usual scheduled announcements, the new event is still timely, consideringMonster Hunter Riseofficially released exclusively on the Nintendo Switch just last Friday.
The new Spirit Event will bring Spirits ofMonster Hunter Rise’s flagship Monster Magnamalo, as well as the Palamute and Palico. The effects and attributes of the Spirits themselves weren’t officially announced, but it was revealed that the Event will start tomorrow on April 2, and will run for 5 days. TheseMonster HunterSpirits also come just afterMonster Hunter-themed Mii Costumeswere added toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatealong with Pyra and Mythra as playable fighters. While fans speculated that aMonster Hunterfighter could come toSmash, the addition of the Mii Costumes and now this Spirit Event have made that very unlikely in the eyes of many.
