Super Mario Bros. 35is quite a spectacle. The 35-player multiplayer game’s release in October surprised Nintendo Switch owners, offering a battle royale experience few could have imagined for a classic Nintendo game. Yet Nintendo delivered something special and Switch players have been enjoying it since. Now Nintendo is building on what’s already available, promising players an extra special Halloween Spectacle special battle inSuper Mario Bros. 35.

The Halloween Spectacle delivers as spooky of an experience asSuper Mario Bros. 35is capable of. The special battle puts together 8 of theoriginalSuper Mario Bros.darkest levels. It starts, of course, with level 1-2, in which Mario goes underground for the first time. It also features all of stage 3 and stage 6’s levels, which all notable feature a pure black background. There’s no added Halloween content, but Nintendo is doing its best to make for a fun event.

To ensure the event stays thematically fun, Nintendo is also giving it very limited availability. A Halloween Spectacle will be available inSuper Mario Bros. 35starting October 30 at 12:00 am PT and will end on November 1 at 10:59 pm PDT. That gives players three full days to play the special battle, from Friday through Sunday withHalloweenright in the middle. And like Halloween, it’ll be gone just like that.

The Halloween Spectacle special battle is obviously not supposed to be anything over the top. It’s not like any other live service game’s special in-game Halloween event, asSuper Mario Bros. 35isn’t that big of a game. But it is a fun thing for Nintendo to do for its fans, yet again building on that celebratory feeling accompanying the35th anniversary ofSuper Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. 35is available now on Nintendo Switch.
