Prior toStreet Fighter 5’s top eight finals at the fighting game tournamentEVO 2017, Capcom decided to unveil the next character to be added to the roster through downloadable content, with Abigail being the fourth of six DLC brawlers included in the game’s Season 2 pass. As it so happens, Abigail is originally from the publisher and developer’sFinal Fightfranchise, with the absolutely massive figure being the latest to crossover into theStreet Fighterseries, following Hugo’s addition inStreet Fighter 3: Second Impact.
As seen below in Abigail’s reveal trailer forStreet Fighter 5, theFinal Fightcharacter is easily the biggest character to make their way into the fighting game franchise to date, as his hulking mass is more than double the size of Ed, who ends up receiving a bone-crunching beat down at the hands of the Mad Gear gang member. While Abigail will likely be a tough cookie to crumble due to a high defense and attack, his slow-moving grapple style could leave him open to defeat by speedier opponents or those who rely heavily on projectiles.
For those excited for Abigail’s arrival inStreet Fighter 5, the wait won’t be too much longer from now, as he’s due to be added to the game on June 20, 2025, followingthe second season’s release of Akuma, Kolin, and Ed. According to reception for theFinal Fightcharacter’s reveal for the title’s roster, however, many fans are less than enthused, saying that they would have much rather been able to play as someone like Q fromStreet Fighter 3: Third Strike.
That said, though, with two more brand new characters left to be announced forStreet Fighter 5’s Season 2, Q could very well follow the inclusion of Abigail. Nevertheless, if a leak from October 2016 is correct, then Menat – a disciple of fortune teller Rose – and Guy’s teacher fromFinal Fight, Zeku, could be the last two to be added this season. Even so, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of more fan favorites coming toStreet Fighter 5through the game’s Season 3 DLC.
Street Fighter 5is available now for PC and PlayStation 4.
