AlongsideSpartacus: House of Ashur’sSDCC 2025 panel,STARZ released a two-minute trailer for the series, also confirming a release date for this Winter. It’s currently unclear whether this will mean the tail end of 2025 or Q1 2026. The series was previously announced for late 2025.
Thetrailer shows its eponymous character, Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay), back to life, with the series' “What if?” scenario exploring what might have happened had Ashur never perishedat the end ofSpartacus: Vengeance. In fact, they’re known for going off the walls, highlighting the gore and sex of Ancient Rome, even more so than HBO’sRome. If one thing is on display inHouse of Ashur’steaser, it’smore of the raunchy series audiences loved before.
As for the plot, Ashur’s death may have brought him more peace than his second chance at life, as owning the arena he once fought in has introduced him to a new series of conflicts.Gladiator games and Roman politics will go hand-in-hand inHouse of Ashur, as the titular character fights to retain what he owns.
The Winter release window is curious, as that likely sets the show to begin in early 2026 as opposed to the previously believed late 2025. IMDb’s page for the show claimsSpartacus: House of Ashurwill have ten episodes, meaning the series could run throughout the Winter season.

Spartacus: House Of Ashur Looks Like Pure Entertainment
While I’m not extensively familiar with this franchise, I am a fan of Roman history shows and will certainly be tuning in upon its release. The series appears to bepure, unadulterated fun, featuring political intrigue, character deaths, and more. It almost feels like a more approachable version ofGame of Thrones.
The first teaser serves as an excellent hook, and I’m expecting it will catch the attention of fans of the original series. However, with twelve years since the show ended, I’m hopingSpartacus: House of Ashurwill be able to attract the new viewership it needs.
