In a recent teaser for the upcoming installment ofDisney Gallery:The Mandalorian,fans got a quick look at the making of the climactic scene that brought back a fan favorite iconic character, Luke Skywalker. The sequence was the culmination of the titular bounty hunter’s mission to bring Grogu to a Jedi so he could be trained in the ways of the Force.
In the quick look from the teaser, fans can see B-roll footage from behind the camera as to how they made the iconic scene atthe end ofThe Mandalorianseason 2. For those who remember, they brought back Luke Skywalker for a fight scene as he came looking for the captured Grogu (Baby Yoda). Luke escorted Grogu away in a tearjerker scene so that he could help teach the child to develop his abilities with the force.

In the clip, fans see Mark Hamill reprise his role while a stunt double by the name of Max Lloyd is used to film the back of Luke’s head and some of the fight scenes. De-aging technology was used to make Hamill appear as old as he was whenReturn of the Jediwas released becauseThe Mandalorianonly takes place a few years after the events of said film. Once this Disney Gallery drops on August 25th, fans will get a closer look at exactly how they used VFX to make Luke look young again, just like in the original trilogy.
The Mandaloriandid a good job at expanding the lore in its own way. Fans are getting a glimpse into the Mandalorian clan as well as some other cultures/backgrounds on the various planets.The Mandalorianalso brought back some characters from otherStar Warsseries such as Ahsoka andbounty hunter Boba Fett, in addition to Luke Skywalker.
With all of the upcomingStar Warscontent, let’s hope thatThe Mandalorianwill still have its solidified spot amongst the competition, though, in all fairness, it appears that there’s more than enough room to eat for all of the series.Star Wars: Visionswill be a 9 episodeanime anthology from 7 different anime studios,Andoris set beforeRogue One, and Star Warswill also be giving solo adventures for both Ahsoka and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
The one thing that might hold them back is franchise fatigue, but it seems that fans are enjoying all of the content that they’re getting. Only time will tell howStar Warsperforms in this new format.
