Qui-Gon Jinn and Mace Windu are two of the most popular Jedi inStar Warshistory. Therefore, it’s only natural for fans to wonder which one is more powerful. And now, fans don’t have to wonder any longer, asStar Warsfinally (and unexpectedly) answered that question.

InStar Wars: Jedi Knights#6 by Marc Guggenheim and Madibek Musabekov,Qui-Gon Jinn and Mace Windu(accompanied by Aayla Secura) are investigatingthe death of a Jedion a distant world. They were told the Jedi’s death was due to natural causes, given his age, and Mace Windu takes that explanation at face value. Qui-Gon Jinn, however, does not.

Qui-Gon Jinn immediately knows something’s wrong just by being in the presence of the fallen Jedi’s corpse. He can sense through the Force that his death was not natural, and that a mysterious villain had a hand in the Jedi’s demise. And, after some investigating, it turns out that Qui-Gon’s feelings were correct, meaning he could sense something Mace Windu could not.

Qui-Gon Jinn is Stronger in the Force than Mace Windu

It’s not like Qui-Gon Jinn just guessed that this might have been a murder and happened to be right. He actively felt a disturbance in the Force surrounding the fallen Jedi’s body, and he trusted himself enough to go with that feeling. Similarly, it’s not like Mace Windu had the same feeling but chose to ignore it. He didn’t sense any disturbance in the Force, proving that Qui-Gon is a stronger Force-user.

This is a fairly shocking way thatStar Warshas chosen to tell fans thatQui-Gon Jinn is stronger than Mace Windu, though entirely effective. Usually, the strength of a Jedi is decided by their skills with the lightsaber or by their telekinetic abilities. However, the display of true strength comes from one’s connection to the Force, making this scene just as important as any lightsaber duel.

Anakin Skywalker is the Culmination of the ‘Qui-Gon vs Mace Windu’ Debate

Qui-Gon Jinn famously asserted thatAnakin Skywalker was the Chosen Onewho was destined to bring balance to the Force. While horrific, Anakin did actually bring balance to the Force by being the key to the elimination of the Jedi Order. Qui-Gon was able to see beyond the horror and understand why Anakin was necessary to the will of the Force.

Mace Windu, however, could only sense the immediate darkness Anakin Skywalker would unleash upon the galaxy, not how his actions would eventually lead to the cosmic balance of the light and dark sides of the Force. That’s why Mace Windu never liked Anakin, because he couldn’t sense beyond what was right in front of him, just like in thisStar Warscomic.

Mace Windu is a powerful Jedi, both in terms of lightsaber combat and telekinetic abilities. However, as previously stated, those skills can’t compare to a powerful connection to the Force, which is why Qui-Gon Jinn is officially stronger than Mace Windu inStar Wars.
