ASplatoon 3fan has an idea for a future Splatfest that would haveSplatooncross over with one of Nintendo’s most prominent franchises. The most recentSplatoon 3Splatfest was a crossover withPokemon, and fans are hungry for more integration of other series.

Previous Splatfests have featured crossovers with other Nintendo properties such as theSuper Smash Bros.andMarioSplatfests inSplatoon 2, as well as the aforementionedPokemonSplatfestinSplatoon 3. Crossovers have been a popular request from theSplatoonfanbase, particularly for series that are prominent on the Nintendo Switch. One fan on Reddit has an idea for a Splatfest themed afterThe Legend of Zeldawith the teams being named after the three pieces of the Triforce: Wisdom, Power, and Courage.

Users in the comments of the post discussed what this Splatfest might look like in practice. One user remarked that a good time for it would be in the weeks leading up to therelease date ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomin May 2023. If a Splatfest like this were to happen, it would be the first time in theSplatoonseries that a Splatfest is themed afterThe Legend of Zelda, a potentially notable event considering just how popular both franchises are on the Nintendo Switch.

Splatoon 3is already one of the highest-selling Switch games in recent memory, but it has the potential of reaching even more people by doing more crossovers. This would not be new for the series as Nintendo has doneSplatooncrossoverswith properties likeHello KittyandSpongeBob SquarePants. However, a more obvious and likely easier approach would be to include more Nintendo properties in Splatfests. The Legend of Zeldais an obvious candidate, butAnimal Crossing,Fire Emblem,Kirby, andMetroidhave all had successful mainline entries on the Switch and would work great as themes for Splatfests.Splatoon 3is still a fairly new game, so there is still plenty of time to see if Nintendo will tap into this potential.

Splatoon 3is available now for Nintendo Switch.
