Summary

The firstMarvel’s Spider-Manand its half-sequelMiles Moralesboth had great stories. While thecombat and web-swinging inSpider-ManandMiles Moralesare often their most discussed features, it’s each game’s story and characters that kept players hooked for the entire runtime, with captivating central plots, some surprisingly complex relationships, and deep world-building sprinkled throughout both titles. And somehow,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2ups the ante in almost every way.

Not content with just telling one Spider-Man’s story,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2brings both Miles Morales and Peter Parker together, giving them almost equal screen time. With double the amount of heroes comes double the villains, and with that comes twice the amount of stakes, which all pave the way for some of the most impressive action set-pieces in gaming, andMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s endingis certainly one of those.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Ending and Post-Credits Scenes Explained

The general main plot ofMarvel’s Spider-Man 2sees Harry Osborn return to Peter Parker’s life, Miles Morales trying desperately to balance his school life and Spidey responsibilities, and all while Kraven the Hunter wreaks havoc on New York City. About a third of the way intoSpider-Man 2’s main story, Peter gets fatally wounded by Kraven, and Harry, who’s currently being healed by the Symbiote, attaches itself to Peter. While the Symbiote heals him, it also makes Peter much more aggressive, and in classic Spider-Man comics fashion, the hero ends up discarding the suit when it pushes him to the brink of villainhood.

Attaching itself to the dying Harry Osborn again, the Symbiote transforms him into Venom, and the two set about “healing the world,” beginning with New York. After an explosive confrontation in Times Square, Venom kills Kraven, and he begins to infect New York citizens with the Symbiote, turning them into feral monsters. The Two Spider-Men join forces to take down Venom, and Peter’s bond with the Symbiote is severed by Miles and Martin Li, which gives Peter Anti-Venom powers.

With those on his side, Peter heads for a final showdown with Venom, and in the aftermath of the climactic battle, Harry is left in a deep coma.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s main storyends with Peter Parker talking with Miles about taking a break from being Spider-Man, and Miles agrees, saying that he’s more than happy to take over as New York’s only Spider-Man.

ButMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s story doesn’t end there.Spider-Man 2features two post-credits scenes, both of which set up some pretty huge plot beats for an inevitableSpider-Man 3. The first post-credits scene sees Norman Osborn visit Doc Ock in the raft. Distraught and clearly at breaking point, Norman asks Ock to reveal the Spider-Men’s identities, but he refuses, though not before looking straight into the camera and stating that he’s plotting “the final act.” The scene hints not only at Ock’s return, but the long-awaited appearance ofOsborn’s Green Goblin.

The second post-credits scene sees Miles meeting his mom’s new boyfriend, Albert Moon, who’s joined by his daughter Cindy. In the Spider-Man comics, Cindy Moon is known as the Spider-Person Silk, teasing her appearance in the sequel as well.Marvel’s Spider-Man 2also has a number of side missions that end with teasers setting up a potential third entry in the series. The Hunter drone side quest ends with a tease forthe villain Chameleon, and the Cult of the Flame side mission chain ends with a heavy implication that Carnage is going to be coming soon as well.
