The next installment of one of the most successful fighting game franchises to date,Soulcalibur, will be including two more characters from the olderSoulcaliburgames, Ivy Valentine and Zasalamel. InSoulcalibur 6, the clash of 16th century mythical swords, souls, and powerful warriors continues on as it will be revisiting the events of the firstSoulcaliburgame,Soul Edge, released almost 25 years ago.

Bandai Namco confirmed that Ivy Valentine, one of the oldest and most recognizableSoulcaliburcharacters, will be fighting inSoulcalibur 6. Ivy first appeared inSoulcaliburin 1998 with her snake sword, dominatrix outfit, and silver hair. InSoulcalibur 6, it is revealed that she will be keeping her original appearance and scanty outfit like she has in the past. The gameplay reveal trailer below shows Ivy Valentine in action:

As can be seen in the trailer, the evil magician, Zasalamel, who first appeared inSoulcalibur 3in 2005, will also be joining the fight again with his death scythe and magical powers. The gameplay reveal trailer below shows how Zasalamel will be using his range of spells and abilities to send his enemies to the dark world of the abyss.

Ivy Valentine and Zasalamel will be fighting alongside other older characters from the series as well. So far Kilik, Sophitia, Mitsurugi, Nightmare, and Xianghua, as well as one new character,Groh, have been confirmed by Bandai Namco. We look forward to finding out which other classicSoulcaliburcharacters will be appearing in the game and whetherSoulcalibur 6will also be introducing guest characters from other games like we saw withEzio fromAssasins Creedand Devil Jin fromTekkeninSoulcalibur 5.

It would have been nice to see these older characters revamped in terms of their outfits, skills and weapons, but for diehardSoulcaliburfans, the return to the first game and the return of characters might be a welcomed nostalgic experience.

Soulcalibur VIwill be released later this year on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
