Skyblivion, the mod that intends to bring the land and gameplay ofThe Elder Scrolls: ObliviontoSkyrim’s engine, is considered to be one of the most eagerly anticipated mods currently in development, and it’s clear why. The volunteer team has revealed its latest creation for the mod, a completely retooled Daedric weapon set, and it’s a pleasure to look at.

Rather than simply updating the textures of the original Daedric weapon set fromThe Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the team has instead completely redesigned and remodeled the set. Originally,Oblivion’s Daedric weapons appeared worn and somewhat crude, whereas the new designs - seen below - appear quite vicious and look like they were ripped from the hands of a Daedra just yesterday. Each item has an eerie red glow reminiscent of the gates of Oblivion themselves, and each looks worthy of the title of the highest class of weapons in the game.

This isn’t the only major change that the modders have in the works for theOblivionremaster. They’ve recently revealed other redesigns, like a new design for the game’s Ebony Armor, as well as the restoration of elements that were cut from the original release. The team is going far beyond a simple port and remaster of the title, which should help to fill the gap after Bethesda stated that it was highly unlikely thatOblivionwould receive an official remaster.

Most gamers have turned their attention to the potential thatThe Elder Scrolls 6could be bringing to the table after being teased byBethesda at E3 2018. However, that hasn’t stopped the TESRenewal Project team from pouring time and energy into this mod. Although it’s been in development since 2012, the modders are still regularly posting updates and progress reports, gradually growing ever closer to a finished release.

It still remains to be seen whenSkyblivionwill be playable, but when it is, both first-timers toOblivionand those who remember it fondly should have plenty to look forward to.

Skyblivionwill release for PC but currently has no release date.
