The Pot Nobles are some of the strangest NPCs inSekiro: Shadows Die Twicebut don’t mistake that quirkiness for anything else. There’s a dark side to these mysterious characters.

After Wolf returns to the Hirata Estate, he has the chance to meet a strange merchant. The character appears to be a disembodied arm sticking out of a pot, with an odd love ofTreasure Carp Scales, a special currency in the game that is dropped by certain fish and given as a reward by some NPCs. The collection of rare items offered by the Pot Noble makes this an important treasure hunt forSekiro: Shadows Die Twiceplayers.

While this would have been strange on its own, it gets even stranger as players find another Pot Noble in the Fountainhead Palace. Things go from odd to nefarious after a certain point in the story, though.

What Does Truly Precious Bait Do?

Truly Precious Bait is a special item offered by the Pot Nobles inSekiro. The item is secretly a poison that can be fed to the Great Colored Carp. Both Pot Nobles offer Wolf a piece of Truly Precious Bait after giving them enough Treasure Carp Scales and advancing in the story to the point where Wolf burns the Fountainhead Incense.

Though both Pot Nobles can give Wolf Truly Precious Bait, he can only feed one to the Great Colored Carp. Using one Pot Noble’s bait to the carp will result in the deaths of the other Pot Noble, the Great Colored Carp, the Great Colored Carp’s attendant, and one of his daughters.

The surviving Pot Noble is transformed into a small Colored Carp and can be found in the water near their pot. If Pot Noble Koremori from the Foutainhead Palace survives, players can find him bydiving off a cliff into the waters below. Despite turning into a fish, they remain a merchant and gain the inventory of the other Pot Noble who died.

Should Truly Precious Bait Be Used in Sekiro?

Players should use Truly Precious Bait to kill the Great Colored Carp. While it’s not necessarily the most ethical choice tokill this mini-boss, the reward for completing the Pot Nobles’ questline is a piece of Lapis Lazuli.

Lapis Lazuli is an extremely rare upgrade material used to get the ultimate version of four Prosthetic Tools. There are only six pieces of Lapis Lazuli available in each game cycle and there are 10 required to upgrade very tool, meaning players can’t let things like morality get in the way ofgetting trophies inSekiro.
