A second season of theEdens Zeroanime adaptation has been green-lit, the franchise’s official Twitter account announced on Wednesday. The official account previously teased a big reveal in October.
Thefirst season of the anime adaptationaired during the Spring and Summer 2021 seasons and ran for 25 episodes.

Hiro Mashima’sEdens Zeromanga is serializedin Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine under the Shōnen Magazine Comics imprint. The series began serialization in 2018 and has amassed 18 tankōbon volumes throughout its run so far, with the latest volume having released in Japan this past November.
Theanime adaptationis handled by J.C.Staff, with the late Yūji Suzuki (Fairy Tail,Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold) directing and Shinji Ishihira (Talentless Nana, Fairy Tail) serving as chief director. Mitsutaka Hirota (Pokemon: Origins, Persona 4 the Animation) handles the series composition while composer Yoshihisa Hirano (Hunter × Hunter,Beyblade) handled the score.
Konami announced that two separate game adaptations are currently in development during a Tokyo Game Show 2020 live stream. Both games are action RPGs, with one being a 3D title for consoles and the other a top-down-style game for mobile devices. Mashima announced that he iscurrently working on his own gameadaptation in his free time. The project is being made with theRPG Makersoftware and will be released as a free game sometime this year.
Mashima is best known for hisFairy Tailmanga series which ran in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine from 2006-2017. The series amassed 63 tankōbon volumes throughout its run, and inspired a myriad of video game adaptations, a long-running anime, 9 OVA episodes, two anime films, and a sequel manga;Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, which is illustrated by Atsuo Ueda.
Kodansha USA licensestheEdens ZeroandFairy Tail, andFairy Tail: 100 Years Questmanga in English. Funimation licences theFairy Tailanime in English, while Netflix owns the streaming rights to theEdens Zeroanime.
