The choice to make the twins women furthers the exploration of how this shifts the power dynamic in their relationships with the women they treat as gynecologists. Additionally,the series is set in New York City instead of Toronto,creating a new type of atmosphere.
There’s a much narrower focus on the experience of women within fertility clinicsand the toll that motherhood and the struggle to get pregnant in the first place take on women everywhere. The relationship that the Mantles have with the romantic lead, Genevieve (Britne Oldford), is also altered, as Genevieve isn’t an addict and is an anchor point for the series, broadening it.
