Thursday marked the launch of the highly anticipatedSaGa Frontierremaster. Originally released in 1997,SaGa Frontieris a PlayStation JRPG developed by Square well before it joined with Enix. Now, Square Enix has broughtSaGa Frontierback with updated HD visuals, improved battle pacing, and an entirely new story path with a new protagonist. Square Enix isn’t settling for just remasteringSaGa Frontier, though. The company confirmed today that it’s now planning multiple additional remasters for theSaGafranchise.

As part of a live-streamed celebration for the launch ofSaGa Frontier, Famitsu was able to confirm with Square Enix’s Akitoshi Kawazu that moreSaGaremasters were going to be made. Kawazu mentions three games specifically.SaGa Frontier 2, the direct sequel toSaGa Frontier, is one of the games.Romancing SaGa, an older JRPG made for the Super Nintendo and from whichSaGa Frontierwas created, is the second game named. The third isUnlimited SaGa, one of the more modern releases in theSaGafranchise, as it was originally released for the PlayStation 2.

Kawazu doesn’t mention any other remasters, but apparently, he did hint at an entirely newSaGagame. No other details were offered, unfortunately. It’s been around five years since the most recentSaGagames were released, those beingImperial SaGafor browsers andSaGa: Scarlet Graceon PS Vita.SaGafans would very likely love a newSaGagame for major consoles.

For the time being, however, Kawazu was content with the new release ofSaGa Frontier. He provided no timelines or further details for when futureSaGacontent will be delivered. Suffice to say,SaGa Frontieris available nowand moreSaGawill be delivered down the line.
