TheNintendo Switchconsole has been out for almost two years now, and as is normal for many consoles, a revised version of the Switch may be coming soon. This is only a rumor, as there has been no official announcement by Nintendo, but an anonymous source claims that the revisedNintendo Switchwill include new features, with increased storage space being a big part of it.
According to the source,“a Nintendo Switch revision is releasing next year [and] it will have an increased internal storage.” Apparently, “Nintendo has made this a priority due to the increase of digital downloads and game purchases from the eShop.” In addition, the source also mentioned that they are “trying to figure out if this 2019 Nintendo Switch revision is a Nintendo Switch pro type device or a minor upgrade device like thenew Nintendo 3DS.”
There is no indication as to how much the internal storage for the rumored revised Switch console will be, with the current storage being as little as 32GB, but if it is true, an official announcement by Nintendo should follow soon with more details. Another feature that this Switch console is also likely to have are anupdated display, which will be more energy-efficient and will allow the image to appear significantly brighter. Furthermore, there is a strong possibility that this console will feature a prolonged lifecycle, as teased by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima back in January of this year.
Regarding the release date of a new Nintendo Switch revision, it could be any time in 2019, but is more likely to be in the second half of the year. This would allow time for the current Switch to increase its number of sales, which isalmost at the 20 million markfor hardware unit sales by now, as well as port more games for the console. Again, this is only a rumor, but if it is true,Nintendo Switchfans have a lot to look forward to in 2019.
