A new rumor claims that an announcement for a big-budgetHarry Pottergame may be coming soon. A job listing for Avalanche Software, the studio rumored to be working on aHarry Pottertitle with Warner Bros., states that it is working on a “soon to be announced” triple-a game, leading to speculation that aHarry Potterannouncement of some kind may be on the way.

Of course, this is all speculation and should be taken with a massive grain of salt. Fans have been asking for a properHarry PotterRPG for years now, and it would be cool to see a bigHarry Pottergame withFire Emblem: Three Houseselements. However, the job listing is vague, and all fans can know for sure is that Avalanche has a new game on the horizon, whatever that may be.
Fans have mostly had to rely on unlicensed creations to get their fill of the Wizarding World. A newMinecraftHarry Potterconversion modhas somewhat scratched the itch, but for the most part, players have been left with little other than re-reading the books to get theirHarry Potterfill.
On the bright side, there are more movies in the pipeline, withFantastic Beasts 3filming this spring. Fans will be able to get their fair share ofHarry Potterthrough avenues like that, but video games have been a relatively under-explored medium for the franchise, besides the movie tie-in games. However, it’s been quite a few years since fans even got one of those.
One can hope that Avalanche’s project is, in fact, aHarry Pottergame. It’s possible that a reveal could happen at E3, though an E3 cancellation due to coronavirus is beginning to seem more and more likely, so it’s hard to say what the future holds.
