WhileResidentEvil 5andResident Evil 6may not be the most popular entries in the horror franchise, they’re definitely among the more recognizable, so it should come as no surprise that the two games are now making their way to the Nintendo Switch, continuing the system’s long run of ported games.
Nintendo announced the ports with a brief trailer during their E3 2019 Nintendo Direct, offering a few quick glances of the games running on the system as well as some live action bits inside of a run-down mansion. It’s also worth noting thatResident Evil 4also recently released on the system but caught some flak formissing a major feature. How fully-featured the other two games are going to be when they release remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely that Capcom would want to repeat the same mistakes.

The Switch now boasts an impressive lineup ofResident Eviltitles on the system, includingResident Evil 7for those in Japan with the capability to stream the game. The notable omission is theResident Evil 2remake, though now thatThe Witcher 3is confirmed for the Switchanything seems possible.
The Switch has had a ton of different ports over the course of its lifespan, which has garnered a mixed reaction from fans. It’s wonderful to see more games make their way to the system, though some fans would prefer that effort be expended on new titles. Still, the majority of fans welcome the addition of beloved games making their way to the hybrid console. The system still has a lot of life in it too, especially if the4k Switch refresh rumorsturn out to be true, so there will likely be many more ports on the system in the future.
No solid release date was given forResident Evil 5and6, but Nintendo did give a release window of Fall 2019, so the games aren’t far off for the system. Who knows, maybe players will even be able to play in time for Halloween. It’s a good opportunity for fans to get spooked while at the same time maintaining a hefty amount of action gameplay.
