Operators inRainbow Six: Siegeusually have multiple ways of using their gadgets to help a team win, but this hasn’t been the case with the operator Tachanka, whose mounted turret is an underwhelming ability due to the nature ofSiege. However, an exciting rework for Tachanka was finally confirmed at the Six Invitational Finals.
Tachanka is currently in a bad spot inRainbow Six: Siege,as his gadget forces him to immobilize himself. Theway maps work inSiegeoperates against Tachanka, too, as they don’t really support that many positions for him to set up his turret. While Tachanka’s mounted turret is part of his personality, Ubisoft has found a way to make the operator more useful while keeping his personality intact.

As part of the Tachanka rework, the mounted turret will be utilized differently. The turret is no longer a gadget and is now Tachanka’s primary weapon of choice. It appears towork with attachmentsand is now better at destroying soft walls to create interesting rotation holes.
As the turret was removed as a gadget and added as a primary weapon, Ubisoft also gave Tachanka a new gadget in the rework. Tachanka now has an incendiary grenade launcher in his arsenal, and can be paired with other operators such as Smoke or Goyo in order to deny attackers from pushing into an objective.
The launcher itself shoots out projectiles similar to Zofia’s concussion rounds. These rounds can bounce around and will detonate after a short time, causing a small patch of fire to be placed on the ground. The best way to think of it would be that now, Tachanka is a mini Capitão on defense, making defending an objective easier.
The Tachanka rework now means that players will actually have a tough time deciding not to pick Tachanka. His kit allows for a diverse playstylethat beginners may likewhen playing as a defender. It’s exciting to think of the interactions that this operator will have on certain maps when his rework is released in one of the upcoming seasons.
Rainbow Six: Siegeis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
