ThePlayStation 5has long been talked about in its competition against the Xbox Series X as a tentative highpoint of late 2020, despite a running theory that the console could bedelayed due to the novel coronavirus. To the contrary, the console is apparently on schedule to hit the release window it has long been rumored to have.

According to the PlayStation 5’s webpage on PlayStation’s website, a statement confirms that the PlayStation 5 will be launching in the holiday season of 2020. This comes several months after the suggestion that it would bereleasing before or during 2020’s holiday season. Now, the statement has been reenforced by an update on the PS5’s webpage.

On the PS5’s webpage, an image with text near the top of the page says in white text that the console will be launching in the holiday season of 2020. This is accompanied by a brief description of the console.

While thePlayStation 5is projected to have a holiday 2020 release, it’s still possible for the console to be affected by the coronavirus in its production or elsewhere. At this point, the release date has been reiterated in rumor a decent number of times, but since there are at least six months until release, changes can occur.

All in all, the next generation of consoles looks to be a huge step forward, as was technically the case with this generation mostly. Naughty Dog’s game director said as much recently when he stated that theconsole is a huge leap forward. Of course, consumers have yet to see for themselves the superiority of the PS5 to the PS4. However, hopefully it will be made all worthwhile come 2020’s holiday season.
