Virtual reality may not be fully supported on the PS5 yet, but there’s a robust back catalog ofPS4 VR gamesfor PSVR users to play on the new console. The only catch is that using PSVR on the PS5 requires an adapter for the required PS Camera. In other words, PSVR users will have to go out of their way to be able to use their headsets on the new console. Sony’s not entirely moving forward without VR in mind, however. It appears that this PS Camera adapter is going to start being included in bundles, specifically theIron Man VRBundle, going forward.

TheIron Man VRBundleis an all-in-one package for playing virtual reality on a PlayStation console. It includes the PSVR headset, two PlayStation Move motion controllers, a PS Camera, as well as theIron Man VRgame itself. And going forward, it appears that Sony will also be bundling in the PS5 adapter for the PS Camera so that buyers can play PSVR on the PS5, too. The bundle retails for $350 and is unlikely to have its price raised.

Unfortunately, the newIron Man VRBundle featuring thePS5 PS Camera adapterisn’t available yet. Sony says that the adapter will begin to be included with the bundle at the end of November. As such, those wanting to play PSVR on their PS5 should wait to buy a bundle in December when the adapter will be included with every purchase.

WhilePSVR userswill have to jump through some hoops to play on PS5, it’s good that Sony is supporting the headset at all. It could very easily have said that the PSVR headset will remain PS4 exclusive. Now Sony and its partners can continue producing PSVR games on PS4, but have them supported on the PS5 going forward.

This is, perhaps, just a temporary solution for Sony. The company has repeatedly said that it’s dedicated to supporting virtual reality going forward. But the “next generation” of PSVR won’t arrive until 2022at the earliest. The PSVR PS Camera adapter is a small price to pay to keep VR enthusiasts tied to the platform until then.
