This was, in fact, the case with Reddit user y2so, who recently got overcharged while attempting to upgrade theirPlayStation Plussubscription to the new model. Y2so accidentally got short-changed by $1 while doing so, but it didn’t take long for Sony to apologize for the problem and issue a refund. As it were, y2so even got a lovely gift from Sony on top of the apology, making the whole interaction that much more pleasant.

The problem seems to have sprung up due to thePlayStation Plus upgrade system, which did have a fair few problems near launch. In y2so’s specific case, however, Sony was quick to resolve the issue with a rapid refund. On top of the refund, Sony also issued an official apology to the user, as well as gifting them an extra $15 equivalent to make up for the inconvenience. Y2so proceeded to post about the ordeal on the PlayStation Plus subreddit, praising Sony’s vigilance in this particular instance.

Sony’s efforts in modernizing PlayStation Plus haven’t gone unnoticed. Thenew PS Plus tiers went livein mid-June, adding a wealth of new games and functionality to Sony’s subscription service. In total, PS Plus users can now play a huge array of contemporary games such asDeath StrandingandReturnal, but a slew of older titles from PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 consoles.

Retro gamers, in particular, have much to choose from, as it seems likePSX games on PS Plus play really wellnow that Sony upgraded them to their 60 Hz NTSC versions. The problem initially came up due to the differences between the European PAL titles and Japanese/American NTSC games, with PAL games running at a non-standard 50 frames per second due to the region’s legacy TV sets from back in the day.

Whatever the case may be, y2so ended up getting a stellar deal thanks to Sony’s proactive response. Now, they’ve got access to10 PS Plus games that got highly reviewedas well as the copy of GTA 5 they purchased with the apology award, effectively ensuring that they’ve got plenty of games to play no matter what.
