The professional gamer and streamer, Nelson “Xeratricky” Medina, was banned recently fromTwitch. However, the FPS gamer’s infraction wasn’t the most egregious, since he was banned for creating hisTwitchaccount when he was under the age of 13. According to the terms of service of the world’s leading game streaming platform, an account holder needs to be at least 13 years old when creating the account. With millions of streamers producing content on Twitch, there are going to be abuses of its policies. Often the bans are for a perfectly good reason. However, occasionally Twitch has taken the most extreme measures for minor policy breaches. In recent weeks, the most notable ToS controversies were related to gambling andTwitch’s new gambling ban.RELATED:Amouranth Confronted by Stalkers at TwitchConXeratricky, who playsApex Legendsprofessionally for Furia Esports, the second-place finishers at ALGS 2022, was banned from the Amazon-owned streaming service out of the blue. While there’s no question Xeratricky infringed upon Twitch’s terms of service, the punishment was considered harsh and out-of-proportion by many in the community. Much of thecriticism towards Twitchhas been that there seem to be no halfway solutions. The now-professional gamer had created his Twitch account over 11 years ago, which made the 24-year-old underaged for Twitch at the time.

Instead of slapping the popular streamer on the wrist, or perhaps punishing him with a temporary restriction, Twitch decided to ban Xeratricky’s account permanently. This isn’t the first time Twitch has enforced the specific ruling on the terms of service.AverageHarry lost his 90,000 follower Twitch accountin the same fashion, although the infraction was more recent. According to Xeratricky’s Twitch post, he just woke up one day to find out his Twitch account was gone. Twitch had not tried to contact him.

The train of events started earlier, though. When trying to apply, and after he gotdenied Twitch Partnership access, the platform requested age verification. Xeratricky didn’t think it would amount to anything and provided the requested documentation. A few weeks later, without any prior notice from Twitch, the service sent an email that the account was deleted.

Just like AverageHarry, Xeratricky was fortunately immediately able to create a new account. The community has been quick to help him amass new followers, although is still far away from his 20,000 followers on the original account. Within the first day, he got 2,200 new followers, and as of writing this, Xeratricky1 stands at 5,300 followers.
