Today’sPokémonPresents finally offered fans their first look at the new series being created byWallace & Gromitstudio Aardman Animation and the Pokémon Company. The presentation not only included a teaser, but finally gave the project a title, as well as a release window.

The new series by Aardman, entitled “Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu,” will apparently feature a Pichu and a Sirfetch’d getting up to trouble. As expected, the series will be in Aardman’s classic claymation style. The project will be releasing in 2027, meaning it’s still quite a ways off.

Pokémon’s New Series is Looking Funny Already

The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu is Off to a Promising Start

The teaser, which was only about 30 seconds long, focused on a Wooloo minding its own business, as a pair of Pokémon run around behind a short stone wall, with Sirfetch’d’s leek sticking up to make them identifiable. Electric attacks and mud slaps occur, disrupting Wooloo’s peaceful time, as Sirfetch’d and Pichu cause a mess.

It would appear that the series will follow a Sirfetch’d who has been entrusted with the safety of a troublesome Pichu, leading to Sirfetch’d chasing Pichu all around and attempting to stop it from causing problems for others.Fortunately for Wooloo, it gets a charred apple as a snack in the end, but the beleaguered Sirfetch’d is barely keeping up.

While some fans might’ve been concerned that Aardman’s stop-motion project might be a little too similar toPokémon Concierge, this teaser should lay those fears to rest immediately. This series is clearly focused on comedy first and foremost, and in that sense is a wonderful follow-up toWallace & Gromit.

What We Know About The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d And Pichu

The Project is Still Cloaked in Mystery

The collaboration between Aardman Animation and the Pokémon Company was first announced in December 2024, but with very few details besides that. WhenAardman’s latest film,Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, began making the rounds, they finally provided a bit of info about their Pokémon project as well.

The studio seems quite pleased to be working with Pokémon, and even from this brief teaser, it’s clear that a lot of love is already going into this series. With a prefix title like “Pokémon Tales,” one can’t help but wonder if there might be other “Pokémon Tales” to follow afterThe Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu, should that series do well.

With the new series not set for release until 2027, however, there’s little point in speculating about the future beyond that. Aardman andPokémonboth seem to be excited for this project, and hopefully it’s the beginning of a long collaboration that bears some wonderful (and hilarious) fruit.
