Pokemon GOplayers are busy hunting down shiny Treecko spawns this weekend thanks to theMarch 2019 Community Day, but the next event is already starting to build hype. It seems like trainers are going to get one more surprise event before March wraps up, now that Niantic has announced a one-day weather-focused event with that will put the spotlight on the Water- and Grass-type Pokemon Lotad.

In addition toall of the other March 2019 field research and rewards, trainers will have a new batch of tasks arriving on March 30. The event takes place from 11am to 8pm and feature increased spawns of weather-boosted Pokemon and limited time research tasks that will offer some exciting rewards. As the shiny Lotad and Castform datamine suggested, players will have a chance to encounter those new shiny variants for the first time during this upcoming event.

Although Lotad and Castform aren’t the most exciting Pokemon in terms of thePokemon GO PvE metagame, the chance to catch some new shiny creatures is always enough motivation to get players out and about. The one-day event is likely to be very popular amongst the completionists and shiny hunters.

Date + Time

May 25, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in your local time zone.

Features

Pokémon that appear due to weather conditions will appear more frequently during the event.

Limited Research tasks will be available when you spin Photo Discs at PokéStops.

Completing the Limited Research tasks will award you encounters with Lotad.

If you’re lucky, you may encounter Shiny Lotad and Shiny Castform in its Normal form!

Move

The move Weather Ball for Castform will be permanently added to the game.

Collecting shiny Pokemon doesn’t give the trainer any kind of advantage in battle, but it is still a fun additional challenge to add into the game. Shiny Pokemon are perfect for leaving in Gyms to show off to the rest of the community.
