Pokemon GOwas recentlyinvaded by Team Rocket, an event that has seen the addition of some new shiny Pokemon, as well as a Team Rocket-themed Special Research quest. However, it appears as though Niantic isn’t done with Team Rocket, as it’s started teasing something major for the game involving the villainous group tomorrow, on 7/28.

Using its various social media pages and YouTube, Niantic has started a countdown forPokemon GOthat ends at 4:00am GMT on July 28. The tease has included silhouettes of Team Rocket grunts, as well as what appears to be the silhouette of Team Rocket leader Giovanni.

This countdown and the various Team Rocket teases inPokemon GOcome hot off the heels of the evil organization completely taking over New York City’s PokeStops. It could be an indication thatPokemon GOplayers will soon have to deal with Team Rocket-invaded PokeStops on a global scale, or it could be a hint thatGiovanni himselfwill debut in the game in some capacity.

Niantic has been creative with the Team Rocket event so far, sending push notifications with nothing more than the letter “R” and acting as though Team Rocket itself has taken over its social media channels. It will be interesting to see if whatever 7/28 brings lives up to the hype, but fans only have to wait until tomorrow to find out.

In the meantime,Pokemon GOplayers have plenty to look forward to beyond the 7/28 event. In fact, Niantic has already confirmed theAugust 2019 Community Day Pokemon to be Ralts, which will enjoy increased spawns on August 3. Of course, the Ralts Community Day will feature a variety of other bonuses as well, including three-hour lures, an exclusive move, a highly increased chance at catching a shiny Ralts, and more.

Later in the year,Pokemon GOplayers can look forward to more Special Research quests, the introduction of new Pokemon, new legendary raid battles, and much more as Niantic continues to evolve the popular augmented reality mobile game. And if this 7/28 event is a success, maybe the company will do similar surprise events in the future.
