This morning’sPokémonlivestream missed out on the best opportunity it set up itself. On the morning of August 10, 2025, The Pokémon Company held a Pokémon Presents livestream, in which it revealed all of the latest and greatest developments in the world of Pokémon. There was a newLegends Z-Atrailer, aPokémonpuzzle game shadow drop, some new information onPokémon GO’s biggest-ever event, and lots more.

ButPokémonshowed us something else during the stream - something adorable, irresistible, thatmany fans hoped would eventually develop into a bigger reveal. Unfortunately, the entire presentation came and went without any further news regarding this particular concept, which deserves so much better.

DJ Pikachu Won Pokémon Presents July 2025

An Adorable Way To Start The Show

Before the Pokémon Presents began, viewers of the broadcast were treated toan almost hour-long DJ set from Pikachu herself. This adorable animated intro featured a sunglasses-sporting Pikachu behind a set of turntables, with high-energy remixes of classicPokémonOSTs, dynamic lighting, and a small audience of other Pikachus dancing to the beat.

As showtime got closer, the audience grew, with progressively larger groups of Pikachus coming up to dance in front of the stand. (One of them even appeared to take a little nap next to the speakers.) The lighting got more dramatic, and the DJPikachu even made a couple of costume changes, swapping out her sunglasses to match the music.

It was an undeniably adorable animation, and a great way to kick off the show.Viewers responded positively to this creative intro: chatters in the Japanese livestream chanted “Pikachu” along with the DJ’s in-universe fans, as captured in a post on X (formerly Twitter) byKay Dyson.

Others really appreciated the music - DJ Pikachu’s “Lavender Town” remix was a special favorite in the chat and on social media. Others, like @mavvy75on X, loved it so much that they suggested “every Pokémon Presents needs DJ Pikachu as a preshow.”

DJ Pikachu Was Teased & Deserves Way More

A Pokémon Rhythm Game Would Be Way Too Cute

Many livestream viewers - myself included - hoped the DJ Pikachu intro was a sign of something bigger to come. Prior to the show, the Pokémon Company teased Pikachu’s DJ seton social media, prompting many fans to predict it was gearing upfor a rhythm game reveal.

It would’ve been fitting:thePokémonvideo game series has always been known for its music, with pulse-pounding battle music and calming town themes to set the stage.

A rhythm game full of remixes ofPokémontracksboth old and new would be a huge hit, and would provide plenty of opportunities for adorable visuals just like DJ Pikachu. Imagine different Pokémon taking the stage, with different themed visuals and dance floors to represent their elemental types and the original context of the music they’re playing.

But unfortunately, no such thing was shown as part of the Pokémon Presents - DJ Pikachu was just a creative way to kill time and get the audience settled before the show began. Hopefully, the fan response to this preshow demonstrates the demand for aPokémonrhythm game to come sometime in the future.
