Game creators are often trying to think of new ways to portray action and destruction, andPixelJunk Edendirector Baiyon has hit on something novel. In developer Q-Games’Dreams of Another, creation and destruction are synonymous, and we’ll be able to build the world by firing bullets sometime this year.

Dreams of Anotherwas previouslyannounced for PlayStation 5 and PSVR2. Now, with the latest update on what’s to come, aSteam versionhas been thrown into the mix. You can see what it means when it refers to its philosophy of “no creation without destruction” in the trailer below.

Dreams of Another

Built around a surreal landscape,Dreams of Anotherexplores what a game might be like if shooting created objects rather than destroying them. When the game was first showcased during PlayStation’s latest State of Play in February,Baiyon followed up with a blogthat further illuminated his efforts to put a new spin on third-person shooting.

The world that comes to life here is made possible through “cutting-edge point cloud technology.” Players can make countless particles scatter and transform with each ping of a bullet, forming objects from fragments. Once created, many of the world’s objects will then provide some form of interaction. It all centers on the emotional tale of two characters—The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldier—with their stories coming to the forefront as you piece the world together.

Baiyon is a multimedia artist who also worked as a musician, so he tends to compose the music for games he directs. In the case ofDreams of Another, Baiyon went for an experimental blend of instruments, field recordings, and other non-instrumental sources. Hopefully, we’ll see how this dreamy vision materializes soon.
