It’s almost Halloween, which means it’s time for games to unleash their spooky updates, and they don’t come much spookier than Kinetic Games' co-op horror extravaganzaPhasmophobia. It’s already been revealed thatPhasmophobiawill be getting a new patch in time for Halloween. While it’s not really been certain what it would bring, it has been suggested that a new “nightmare” mode would be unveiled, partly due to the name of the update. Now, the patch notes have been revealed, which outlines exactly what fans can expect shortly.
According to the game’s official Steam page, the new “nightmare” patch forPhasmophobiawill have plenty of new content to creep players out. Perhaps the one that many have suspected is the introduction of a new difficulty setting. This much harder mode will implement some changes to the game which, as many can imagine, will make it much more difficult to identity what type of ghost is on the prowl. The new nightmare mode will also give players no setup time, a ghost that can change locations, limited hiding spaces, plus the spook haunting the building will reveal one less type of evidence.

The update also brings with it a new location, called the Maple Lodge Campsite, which, from the description, sounds like it could be the game’s first outdoor map. On top of that,Phasmophobiawill also have some new ghosts, four to be exact. In the patch notes, these new specters will include an Onryo, Obake, Raiju, and what appears to be a double team of ghosts simply referred to as The Twins. The developer also says that these new ghost types will have an increased chance of spawning, particularly during the Halloween period.
Some of the things mentioned were already hinted at whenKinetic Games teased a newPhasmophobiaupdatea few days ago. The new difficulty and possibility of additional ghosts was already something many were anticipating. However, the update changes and adds more content, such as new weather. Now, there is a chance that locations will come with adverse weather effects, which can adjust the difficulty of seeking out the ghost. The new weather will include, strong winds, fog, heavy and light rain, and even snow. As with all updates, this one will come with some bug fixes as well.
Phasmophobiais the ideal game to play this Halloween. Its life may have started out only a year ago, but it quickly went on to become a huge hit, especially in the streaming community.
